Reflections on the State of the World and Our Parental Responsibilities

As I reflect on the current state of the world, I find myself wondering why so many believers are overwhelmed by today's challenges. Why do we expect the government or politicians to solve these global issues for us? Have we forgotten the prophecies about the last days and the signs of Jesus Christ's return?

Matthew 24:7-8 reminds us: "Nations will rise against nations, and kingdoms against kingdoms. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

This scripture highlights that these are merely the beginnings of the difficulties leading up to Christ's return. It seems we've quickly forgotten these warnings. Now is not the time to panic or depend on the government to resolve these crises. Instead, it's crucial to focus on our homes and families, particularly our children, preparing them for what lies ahead as the situation may not improve.

Preparing them now will be crucial for their mental well-being in the future.

Preparing for the Future

As parents, we must recognize that challenging times lie ahead. This is not meant to instill fear but to encourage preparedness. We should aim to be like the five wise virgins in the Bible, who were ready for the bridegroom's arrival, understanding the importance of having extra oil for their lamps. In our context, this "extra oil" symbolizes preparing our children for the future.

Here are some steps to start with:

  1. Empower with Truth: Teach your children the enduring truths of life, as truth never fails and lasts forever. This is crucial because many may fall away from the truth.

  2. Life Skills: Equip them with practical life skills that will help them navigate and excel in life, preparing them for a world where betrayal and challenges may arise.

  3. Intentional Relationships: Be deliberate in your relationship with God and with your children, setting a strong example.

  4. Reveal God Through Actions: Through your actions and words, help your children understand who God is.

  5. Discuss the Times: Openly discuss current events and what is happening in the world, guiding them on how to respond in a manner that aligns with God’s expectations.

  6. Encourage Love for God: Instill in them a love for God and His Word.

  7. Raise Leaders: Prepare them to be true leaders and influencers, ready to face and shape the future.

This is a call to action for parents to be proactive and intentional in guiding their children through these uncertain times, preparing them not only to cope but to thrive and lead.
